If you have trained as a nurse or midwife outside of the European Union or European Economic Area and you are applying to register as a nurse or midwife in the UK, we may be able to assist you in processing your entry clearance application to enter the UK in order to work as a registered nurse or midwife.

For your information, the statement of change to UK immigration rules HC 395 which came into force on the 19th November 2015 has added nursing jobs to the shortage occupation list.

The addition of nursing job to the shortage occupation list is an important step taken by the United Kingdom government to bridge the ever increasing gap between the demand and supply of qualified or trained nurses available to work in the National Health Service (NHS) and other health institutions both government and private.

This new development will see many Hospital across the country embarking on a massive recruitment drive to bring nurses from abroad or from outside the UK. This is a perfect opportunity of career progression for employable nurses who are keen to work in the UK.

It is important to let you know that the rules governing the application process are highly technical. These include legal requirements under UK immigration rules in addition to relevant qualification that a qualified nurse is required to attain before they can apply to be registered in the UK as a nurse.

The application process will come under UK immigration point based system (PBS). Applicants must score the required number of points under the UK immigration rules for their visa application to be successful. Applicants will be required to get the application process right more so as there is no right of appeal when an application of this nature is refused.

Our advice is that you should contact us as soon as possible if you are interested in taking advantage of this opportunity whilst it is still available. It is likely that the shortage occupation list will be revisited by the government again and nursing job removed from it after the government is satisfied that it has got the numbers of nurses needed for the UK NHS. This has happened in the past. The addition of nursing job to the shortage occupation list is not a permanent feature of UK Immigration it is subject to change once the government has fulfilled or met their target in terms of numbers of nurses.

If you are a qualified nurse who trained outside EU or EEA and if you wish to enter the UK in order to work as a registered nurse, please send your e-mail to or call 0044(0)7763794490.

Thank you.
